C4D Product Prototypes

The final C4D workshop of the year, another shame as I've been learning alot from them and have been really enjoying them.  We started this workshop by creating a bottle, we took a 2d profile of the bottle  and extruded it around a center point.  Creating the cap was interesting, we had to create multiple shapes and connect them, a large exterior flower and then circles getting smaller and smaller in. Then by adjusting the circles z co-ordinate we could pull the shape of the cap out, with some fine tuning the cap ended up looking very realistic. We then added textures, working with reflectance and opacity we created the green glass for the bottle and then used matt textures for the labels and cap. Ontop of the matt textures we then added png labels Here is the final output. Next up was a can, the process was much the same, we took a 2d profile of the can and extruded it around a centre point. We added reflective textures and a...

After Effects Showreel

Sara's final workshop this year had the objective of amalgamating our years work into a showreel, adding in an overarching theme and transitions. Not much to say about this once except it's a shame it's the last, I've really enjoyed the workshops this year.

The Norrisnator - Business Summary 2

Know your costs. Always. All of them. 10% is a fair profit margin for the business, this is after cost, wages, materials services etc. Profit can fully depend on risk, if you are taking a large risk in a job, it is entirely acceptable to ask for more money. Client rank system, quite normal! Work with those who treat you well, if you can afford it, work exclusively with those clients.

Cinema 4D Experimentation

Todays workshop was a number of experiments for learning techniques within Cinema4D, We worked with turning 2d shapes 3d, using particle emitters and reflectivity.  The first project was to make a tunnel that we could emit reflective balls down with contact physics, we extruded a square shape (which I later changed to a flower) and twisted it to create character inside the tunnel. We then set up the emitter to fire out several balls at once, and gave both the balls (particles) and the tunnel contact physics so that they would bounce off eachother. Here's the final output. The next experiment was creating an animated sheet with colour maps to create still textures.  We took a plane and then warped it with noise and applied a colour map so that the plane would change colours at different Z co-ordinates. Here are a few variants I made. The final experiment was a combination of using a particle emit...
